Geodesic Dome Connectors

Our geodesic dome connectors for DIY builds are available as complete STAR hub kits from Ø1m to Ø16m. Every geodesic dome hub kit includes precision-manufactured steel connectors, bolts and fasteners, and laminated assembly diagrams. Kits start from €110 and cover dome, sphere, and tunnel forms across 1V, 2V, 3V, 4V, 5V, and 6V frequency options.

Geodesic dome hubs are used to build garden studios, greenhouses, glamping pods, event shelters, pergolas, climbing frames, and large-scale event structures. The same STAR connector technology used in VikingDome’s prefabricated domes is available here as a standalone kit for builders who want to source their own struts and cladding locally.

Geodesic Dome Connector Kits by Frequency and Size

1V kits cover compact builds from Ø1m to Ø5m ideal for small garden domes. 2V and 3V kits span Ø2m to Ø10m and cover most residential and light commercial builds.

4V, 5V, and 6V kits reach up to Ø16m and are engineered for large event structures, permanent installations, and commercial glamping.

The TETRA double-layer kit adds a second structural layer for extra rigidity on exposed or high-load sites. For tunnel and barrel-vault forms, the Quadro STAR CLASSIC and STAR PRO connector kits cover spans from 7x7m up to 13.5x8.8m.

Icosahedron, HEXA, and Sphere Connector Kits

Icosahedron kits come in a truncated hemisphere with a flat base ideal for residential and commercial builds. HEXA kits produce a more angular profile with larger panels which reduces the total number of struts and connector points. Sphere kits such as the 2V 1/1, 3V 1/1, and 4V 1/1 close the dome into a full 360° globe form and are used for decorative structures, large-scale installations, and architectural features.

What’s Included in Every STAR Connector Kit

Each geodesic dome connector kit contains the full set of STAR hub connectors, all bolts and fasteners and waterproof-laminated assembly diagrams. Struts are not included, they can be cut locally from timber, metal pipe, or any structural material to the dimensions specified in the supplied drawings. This keeps shipping costs low and lets DIY builders source materials that suit their climate, budget, and aesthetic. The STAR PRO Quadro kit includes heavier-gauge connectors rated for larger spans and higher load requirements.

FAQ

What are geodesic dome connectors?

Geodesic dome connectors are the steel hub joints that hold the struts of a geodesic dome frame together. Each connector has a fixed number of ports corresponding to the dome’s frequency and geometry.

Do the kits include struts?

No. Struts are not included. Each kit ships with precise cutting dimensions so you can source timber, metal pipe, or other structural materials locally.

Which frequency should I choose?

Lower frequencies (1V, 2V) have fewer struts and larger panels suited to smaller domes. Higher frequencies (4V, 5V, 6V) have more struts and smaller panels, producing a rounder shape and higher structural performance for larger spans. For most residential builds up to Ø10m, a 3V kit is a practical middle ground.

What is the difference between Icosahedron and HEXA kits?

Icosahedron kits produce the classic geodesic dome shape with triangular panels. HEXA kits produce a more angular profile with a mix of hexagonal and pentagonal panel shapes.

What materials are the connectors made from?

STAR connectors are manufactured from steel to European standards. All bolts and fasteners are sourced from Germany, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, and Sweden.

Can I use the connector kit for a permanent outdoor structure?

Yes. The steel connectors are designed for outdoor use and long-term performance. For permanent structures, choose a 4V or higher frequency kit and use structurally rated strut materials.

How long does delivery take?

Connector kits ship from VikingDome’s EU manufacturing base. Lead times vary by kit size and destination. Check the individual product page for current availability or contact the team directly for time-sensitive projects.
