Hexagon Domes

Our hexagon dome connector kits are available as STAR and T-STAR steel hub systems for DIY builds from Ø2m to Ø10m. The HEXA geometry produces a more angular, faceted profile with larger hexagonal and pentagonal panels and has fewer struts and connector points.

HEXA Dome Connector Kits

3V HEXA kits cover builds from Ø2m to Ø8m and suit garden structures, glamping frames, and event shelters where the faceted HEXA profile is preferred. 6V HEXA kits cover Ø4m to Ø10m in 1/2 and 1/3 configurations and are suited to larger residential and commercial builds.

Each kit is available with either STAR or T-STAR connectors. STAR connectors suit most standard DIY builds while T-STAR connectors provide a tighter joint suited to permanent or glazed installations.

What Makes a HEXA Dome Different

A standard geodesic dome uses an icosahedron geometry, a triangulated hemisphere with many small triangular panels. The HEXA geometry replaces most triangular panels with a mix of hexagonal and pentagonal shapes which reduces the total number of struts and connector points. The result is a flatter, more angular profile with larger panel openings which is faster to build and well suited to cladding with large flat panels such as polycarbonate sheet.

STAR and T-STAR Connector Systems

STAR connectors are our standard precision steel hub joints manufactured to European standards with bolts sourced from Germany, Italy, and Sweden. T-STAR connectors use a proprietary system that produces a tighter joint between panels. Both systems ship with precise cutting dimensions and waterproof-laminated assembly diagrams so struts can be sourced and cut locally from timber, metal pipe, or any compatible structural material.

FAQ

What is a hexagon dome?

A hexagon dome is a geodesic dome built using a hexagonal panel layout rather than purely triangular panels. The HEXA geometry produces larger, flatter panels with fewer total struts which results in a more angular, faceted profile.

What is the difference between a ready-to-install dome and a DIY connector kit?

Ready-to-install models arrive as complete prefabricated kits with all polycarbonate panels, fixings, and a tempered glass door and can be assembled in 1–3 days without specialist tools. DIY HEXA connector kits supply the steel hub joints and fasteners only, with cutting dimensions provided so you source and cut your own struts locally.

What is the Aura Dome™ Decor Opal?

The Aura Dome™ Decor Opal is a decorative dome structure using the same hexagonal panel layout as the full-size domes, available from Ø120cm to Ø300cm. Used for garden landscaping, event decoration, and branded installations where the dome form is the feature rather than an enclosed space.

Can the motorized retractable dome be used year-round?

Yes. The Ø10m, Ø11m, and Ø12m Motorized Retractable Enclosures use the same polycarbonate panel system as the standard Aura Dome™ range, rated for year-round outdoor use. 30% of the facade opens via electric motor or by hand in good weather and seals fully when conditions change.
