Double-Pane Glass Dome Skylights

Our skylights use double-pane insulated glass which reduces heat loss in winter, limits solar gain in summer, and eliminates condensation on the interior surface. The Ø15m H7.5m dome is rated to 1 kN/m² snow load with double-pane glazing throughout.

T-STAR steel frame models such as the Ø4m, Ø6m, and the 4.5x3.5m Insulated Glass Dome Skylight use VikingDome’s proprietary T-STAR connector system which provides a thermally efficient joint between panels than a standard bolted frame.

Engineered for Permanent Buildings

Glass dome skylights are engineered to European EN structural standards and ship with full structural drawings. Steel frames use structural steel from Germany and stainless steel from Italy. Every order includes detailed installation documentation, and VikingDome’s in-house engineering team helps oversee the entire project process.

Bespoke Skylights

Large commercial builds often require non-standard dimensions, custom glazing, or integration with existing building structures. The Custom Design Service handles projects at any scale from a single residential rooftop dome to a 4,800m² shopping centre skylight. VikingDome’s engineering team produces detailed drawings, structural calculations, and installation documentation suited to the specific site and regulatory requirements.

FAQ

What is a geodesic dome skylight?

A geodesic dome skylight is a structural glass dome installed on a building rooftop or opening to bring natural light into the space below. Unlike flat skylights, the geodesic form distributes load evenly across the structure, making it suitable for large spans without internal supports.

What is the difference between T-STAR and standard frame models?

T-STAR frame models use VikingDome’s proprietary connector system which produces a tighter joint between glass panels while standard frame models use a conventional bolted steel frame.

Are these suitable for planning permission applications?

Yes. Every dome ships with full structural drawings and EN-compliant engineering documentation.

How is the dome installed on an existing building?

Installation method depends on the building structure and the dome diameter. VikingDome supplies detailed installation drawings with every order. All orders are available with, site-specific engineering and installation guidance.

What glass is used in the dome panels?

All glass panels use double-pane insulated units.

Can I order a dome outside the standard size range?

Yes. The Custom Design Service covers any dimension or specification outside the standard product range. Contact VikingDome directly with your project requirements to receive a bespoke engineering proposal.
