About The Project
Hotel Waldegg in Engelberg is located at an altitude of approximately 1,050 meters (3,445 feet) in the heart of the Swiss Alps. Due to frequently harsh and unpredictable mountain weather, hotel guests were not always able to enjoy the spectacular panoramic views from the outdoor terrace.
The question was clear: How can the hotel offer guests greater comfort outdoors while protecting them from rapidly changing alpine conditions?
The solution — Luxury Aura Zome, a fully transparent dome offering a 360° panoramic view while shielding guests from rain, snow, wind, and cold. This premium pavilion requires no major construction work, installs quickly, and immediately extends the usable season of any outdoor area.
A Year‑Round Outdoor Experience
With the installation of the Luxury Aura Zome, the hotel can now serve guests on the terrace in any weather. Visitors enjoy an immersive mountain panorama while being completely protected from the elements. This improvement enhances guest satisfaction and creates an unforgettable experience.
Hotel Waldegg transformed its terrace into an elegant dining venue — offering luxury dinners with breathtaking views. The additional seating area directly increased revenue, allowing the investment to pay off within a single tourist season.
High‑End Materials and Engineering
The Luxury Aura Zome is manufactured from fully transparent architectural polycarbonate that is UV‑resistant, non‑yellowing, and highly durable. The material withstands extreme cold and does not crack in winter conditions. Polycarbonate is also impact‑resistant and virtually unbreakable.
For this project, Hotel Waldegg selected the PRO model, engineered to withstand a snow load of up to 2.2 kN/m², fully compliant with Swiss Construction Regulations.
The dome is designed with a precision‑fit panel system, leaving almost no gaps between the segments — ensuring excellent heat retention. During winter, the interior is heated with electric heaters; during summer, comfort is maintained with an air‑to‑air heat pump.
At the top of the dome, a motorized Rooftop Window provides highly efficient hot‑air extraction during warmer months.
Fast Production and Installation
The hotel decided to install the Luxury Aura Zome in autumn.
The complete process — production, transport, and installation — took only six weeks, showcasing the speed and efficiency of modular construction.
Four local craftsmen assembled the structure using a step‑by‑step instruction guide in just two days, without requiring high‑level technical qualifications. The assembly process is simple, intuitive, and designed for smooth installation.

How Luxury Aura Zome Transformed the Hotel’s Business
Before installation:
